Lateral separation of RNAV routes.

01.09.2010

Submission:

Anyone got any thoughts regarding lateral separation of RNAV 1 routes? Conventional thinking seems to be 1.5 x XTT + BV. There is no guidance in either DOC 8168 or DOC 4444. Anyone know if anything is due to come out of the various ICAO Panels?

There is a tender out from Eurocontrol about this but I don’t know when the results will be made public

Tender:

“The study will develop a route spacing requirement for routes in an ECAC environment for both en-route and terminal airspace operations in an A RNP environment with Total System Error of 0.5 NM. The study shall cover the route spacing requirements both in the en-route and terminal airspace environments. It will consider straight line segments and turns and will produce estimates of collision risk against spacing.”
